Unlike commercially driven publishers, our values are likely to be closely aligned with those of your own society.
What we can provide
-
Improved usage and impact factors
As an experienced and successful publisher, we know the importance of high usage in making a journal as valuable as it can possibly be. By employing techniques such as regular telemarketing campaigns, creating promotional materials highlighting the availability of content to institutions, email campaigns promoting online activation and articles, and licensing our content to an aggregated database hosted by EBSCO, RSM Press are able to ensure the highest possible awareness of your journal.
The latest 2010 Impact Factors published in the Journal Citation Reports® by Thomson Reuters are now available. We are excited to announce a marked increase in the following journals:
- Annals of Clinical Biochemistry increased from 1.917 to 2.209
- Acta Radiologica increased from 1.270 to 1.483
- Phlebology increased from 1.548 to 2.209
- Experimental Biology and Medicine increased from 2.635 to 2.954

Increase in profile
Our marketing plans include mailing, email and online campaigns to librarians, subscription agents, academics and clinicians, attendance at key conferences, regularly updated catalogues and web presence, and personal sales representation in key markets. In addition we reach agreements with interested societies for bulk deals. We find these tactics have greatly increased our journal profiles, as well as the related societies.
-
Wide geographical reach
We are growing personal local representation across a number of international territories, promoting our journal content to institutional and consortia customers in their own languages. As well as this, we can grow the circulation of your journal significantly through agreements with major societies across North America, Asia, Europe and Australia.
-
Benefits of being part of the RSM Press
Becoming aligned with RSM Press will allow the society and the journal editorial board the opportunity to become members of the Royal Society of Medicine and purchase RSM Press publications at a significantly discounted price.

Phlebology–a short overview of success
Background
Five years ago we took over the journal Phlebology, then published by Springer, and linked to the RSM's Venous Forum.
The Challenge
It has a readership mainly of vascular surgeons, sclerotherapists and dermatologists. We inherited an irregularly published journal, with a subscriber base of only around 300.
RSM Press Response
We used targeted marketing, and forged close links with major societies in the field, including the American College of Phlebology, American Venous Forum and the Australasian College of Phlebology. We attended the annual meetings of these organisations, got to know the people in the field well, and expanded advertising sales and supplements, as well as continually marketing the journal through e-campaigns, mailings and free trials.
The Result
Copy flow and article quality have increased dramatically, the journal was accepted into MEDLINE for indexing and its frequency has recently increased from four to eight issues in 2011. In addition, RSM Press secured the adoption of the journal by the American College of Phlebology. Future plans include the publication of a Spanish language edition for mainland Spain and Latin America, as well as the possibility of launching a social media platform for the journal. Subscriptions are now over 2500 and increasing and the 2010 impact factor increased from 1.548 to 2.209.
